I’m back!

Photoshop. I was experiment with the program :)

Well, I was supposed to update this blog like, every week. Unfortunately I had to travel and  I didn’t have the time  to sit down to draw :/

Good thing is I work at home, so after finishing all things for today I sat down to finish a drawing that I started a while ago. The thing is, you see,  I always take my time with drawings… so much time that I actually take days and weeks to finish one illustration :/ Sometimes this obeys the fact that the drawings are rather complicated, but more often than not, it’s just because I’m kinda slow. I have noticed that my friends of the trade, draw very quickly and finish multiple illustrations in a row, but I just can’t. This has become a major issue now that I’m attempting to update the blog every week. I always end up uploading sketches, or doodles or rather simple looking drawings. I’m afraid it takes a while (well, it takes *me* a while) to have something ready. This illustration was done in between backgrounds and drawings and the moving. It started as an experiment  and developed into a more complicated thing. I don’t know why I end up drawing this quasi-realistic pieces, because honestly I don’t think I quite get how to solve an illustration like this.

Nevertheless, it was a lot of fun. I was attempting at first to draw an original character of mine and half way started to use Caravaggio-like colors (one of my favorite artists of all time, I have to say I did google some of his images and used them as reference as to the blending of colors etc). It ended being something in between my character and a gypsy… or something like that. I’m still amazed how the computer allows anyone to do almost everything without much fuss, even if I one changes one’s mind half way. I’m not sure I would have been able to do the same in traditional!!!

Here’s a close up of the face. I think I have to improve all the ‘finishing’ on this type of drawings, but it looks better than the last time.

Now I’m preparing for a major undertaking in drawing. I’m starting (or better yet, continuing) with my comic: The Black Violin.  I’m not very sure how I’ll be able to do everything else + a comic, but since I’ve done it before, I’m pretty sure I’ll be able to do it again and have everything  + comic on time. Let’s see how that goes.
